GLS celebrates 20 years, has so far distributed 200 million parcels worth CZK 500 billion
On 1 April, the transport company GLS celebrates 20 years since the start of operations in the Czech Republic. Throughout its existence, GLS has delivered almost 200 million parcels worth over half a trillion crowns.
20 years of GLS in numbers:
- 200 million delivered parcels worth CZK 500 billion
- 50 daily international connections, over 800 vans and more than 100 trucks with the GLS logo
- More than 1000 own boxes, in total GLS delivers almost 5000 pick-up points to the network
- 60 thousand fulfilled children's wishes
Petr Pěcha appointed as Managing Director of GLS CZ
Petr Pěcha is the new Managing Director of GLS CZ as of 1 March. He brings to the leadership of GLS CZ many years of management experience, especially in the areas of brand building and corporate culture, digital transformation and innovation across various industries. GLS will focus on further growth, and specifically on strengthening the strength of its brand, under Petr Pěcha's leadership. The current Managing Director Pavel Včela will now be responsible for transforming GLS' operational processes in Eastern Europe.

Interest in sending parcels between households is experiencing a renaissance, with more than a quarter of people sending a parcel. Lockers are also playing an increasingly important role when sending packages. GLS now offers, in addition to less than a thousand of its boxes, this simple sending now also via shared AlzaBoxes. A parcel with GLS can be sent not only with the use of a courier, but also through almost 5000 pick-up points and boxes.
GLS transported a record number of parcels last year and significantly expanded the distribution network
Last year, the GLS shipping company recorded the strongest year in its history, transporting 15% more parcels than the year before. Last year, the company invested significantly in the development of the network of pick-up points, which are already used by over 4.5 thousand, while the number of its own GLS ParcelBoxes has more than tripled.
