Possible delays in Czech GLS shipments
The weather conditions in the central part of the Czech Republic might affect GLS deliveries.
Due to the weather conditions, the traffic collapsed on some roads in the central part of the Czech Republic.
This might lead to delivery delays of up to 24 hours for parcels sent from the regions of Šumperk, Svitavy, Kolín, Olomouc, Brno, Bratislava as well as parcels sent from Poland.
All other parcels will be delayed by about 2 hours. Today's parcels will be delivered according to the road conditions. We expect everything to return to normal tomorrow.
GLS Czech Republic is working to minimise the delays and apologises for any inconvenience these may cause to our customers.

Packaging tips
Sturdy packaging is very important when sending parcels. The parcels travel along conveyor belts in depots and are loaded onto various lorries and delivery vehicles. Here are a few important tips:
1. Use a sturdy cardboard box.
2. Fill it completely with padding.
3. Carefully seal the parcel with packing tape.
4. Do not use ribbons or other Christmas decorations that could get stuck on conveyor belts.

GLS Group awarded EcoVadis Silver rating
Sustainability certification based on international standards: EcoVadis has rewarded GLS with the Silver rating for its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Transparency for GLS customers in respect of sustainability activities. To achieve this goal GLS took part in the independent EcoVadis certification programme for the second time in a row, achieving a Silver rating in August 2018.
Compared with the previous year, the Group improved its performance in all four categories, thus moving up from Bronze to Silver. As a result, the parcel company is amongst the top 21 per cent in the logistics sector – and even amongst the top 18 per cent when it comes to environmental issues. GLS comes in the top 12 per cent of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis.
Sustainability put to the test
EcoVadis evaluates a company’s sustainability management on the basis of 21 criteria across the four themes of environment, social, ethics and sustainable procurement. The criteria have been assigned different weightings in the final result. The evaluation is based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the UN Global Compact.
When conducting its analysis, EcoVadis attaches equal importance to the strategy, actions and results of the management system across all four themes. The analysis also gives GLS an opportunity to perform targeted validation of its sustainability measures and improve them on an ongoing basis.

GLS Group renews and expands certification
The ISO certificates for quality and environmental management at the GLS Group have been renewed for the next three years. GLS has also achieved GDP certification for the transportation of medicinal products in two more countries.
GLS operating companies in 18 countries had their quality and environmental management systems recertified in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001. The certification contributes to the transparency of GLS products and services in the eyes of the customers. The management systems help the national organisations to achieve their environmental and quality goals.
GDP-certified medicinal transport
GLS also obtained GDP (Good Distribution Practice) certification in Denmark and Ireland. The GDP guideline is binding for pharmaceutical wholesalers across the EU. Following Germany and France, GLS companies in four countries now meet the stringent safety and hygiene requirements for the non-temperature-controlled transport of medicinal products for human use.
GLS contracted DQS – one of the largest international providers of management system certification – for almost all the certificates.
