GLS started testing employees for coronavirus at the Jihlava HUB. Testing is provided by one of our colleagues, who is a trained nurse and has been trained for this purpose. According to government regulations, employees must be tested every 7 days.
In response to the record number of parcels transported in the main season, GLS accelerated the planned expansion of the international sorting center in Jihlava. The new hall with an area of 4640 m2 will meet environmental standards and will increase capacity up to 2.5 times. The investment in the first stage, which will enable 50% more shipments to be processed by Christmas this year, will climb to EUR 12 million.
During last peak season the Market Vision research agency decided to conduct a specialized survey of how carriers' telephone information lines cope with the onslaught of customers. GLS customer service performed absolutely best in this independent survey.
GLS participates in the pilot project of the Capital City of Prague and since November 2020 it has been delivering part of the parcels in the historic center of Prague without emission.
GLS has started to use the very first large electric delivery for the daily delivery of bales at the depot in Hulín, which will carry almost the same amount of bales as a normal delivery with an internal combustion engine, while it will travel up to 120 km on a single charge. In the next 12 months, the expansion of the fleet is planned.
