FAQ about Coronavirus

We continue to focus on prevention

With parcel distribution, GLS provides a very important service for the supply of society. The responsibility we bear has become particularly clear since the start of the Corona pandemic. Fortunately, the situation in Austria and most other countries has eased in the meantime, so that hardly any restrictions need to be expected in the area of parcel distribution.

Of course, we continue to pay close attention to protecting the health of those involved in our business activities. To this end, we continue to implement various preventive measures, such as:

Equipment

Equipping all locations and supplying all employees, transport partners and drivers with suitable disinfectant and other protective agents.

Hygiene

Strict implementation of the necessary hygiene measures in all areas.

No travel activity

Meetings and conferences are conducted via telephone or video.

Distribution of staff

Home office in administrative areas, otherwise spatial distribution

Contactless delivery

For our shippers and consignees we offer the possibility of contactless delivery.

Further measures

We constantly monitor relevant developments and immediately initiate necessary measures if required.

All other GLS subsidiaries also implement the preventive measures that are indicated according to the respective local requirements.

Contactless delivery via photo feature

In the current Coronavirus situation, personal contacts should be reduced to a minimum if possible. In order to better protect both the recipient and the driver, there is now an alternative to the recipient's signature on the scanner. The delivery can be made completely contactless via the photo feature. This is how contactless delivery by photo feature works:

Deposit permission enables contactless delivery

GLS has a supply obligation and picks up and delivers your parcels. We ask you to clarify with your recipients in advance whether shipments can be accepted. If receiving points are closed, then in the current situation we will immediately return parcels to the shipper.

Alternatively, contactless delivery is also possible if the recipient allows us to drop off the parcel at a named location. For this we only need the completed deposit permission, available here .

Alternatively, a one-time, parcel-related deposit permission can be issued easily online via our parcel tracking . The delivery driver then receives a message on his hand scanner and will deposit the parcel at the specified location.

International parcel shipment

The situation has also eased noticeably in the other European countries. Restrictions that could affect parcel delivery are largely no longer to be expected, meaning that export and import of your parcel shipments are once again possible without restrictions. We will keep you informed about current changes here.

Stable GLS ParcelShop Network

Almost 100% of all GLS ParcelShops are currently available for parcel delivery and acceptance. You can find all available ParcelShops in your area here.

In the current situation, the health and safety of all those involved is also a top priority within the ParcelShop network. In addition to the necessary hygiene measures, the process of parcel delivery and pick-up is also contactless - your signature on the smartphone is therefore currently not required.
