Send one-time/occasional private parcels with GLS-ONE

You can hand over your parcel at any GLS ParcelShop. Use our ParcelShop search to find a GLS ParcelShop.
You can also buy parcel labels in advance online via GLS-ONE.
Registration is not necessary.

Regularly send (commercial) parcels

GLS provides businesses with IT shipping systems to meet their requirements and depending on the number of parcels they send. These systems can also be customised for the sender's existing IT infrastructure.

As GLS customer you can send parcels to the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

Shipments to the following destinations will not be accepted:

  • Outside the EU: All countries (customs relations) - except Monaco.
  • Within the EU: Andorra, Ceuta, Gibraltar, Greece, Livigno, Malta, Melilla, San Marino, Cyprus, overseas territories and all European islands except German islands, Croatian islands and Ireland.

GLS generally ships domestic parcels to their destination in a standard turnover of over 24 hours. Express shipments are guaranteed to be delivered reliably by GLS before 5 pm on the next working day, or earlier if desired, anywhere Austria. The following countries in Central Europe usually receive their parcels within a standard turnover of 24 to 48 hours: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Croatia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Hungary. Almost all more distant countries can expect to wait between 72 and 96 hours. GLS delivers Monday to Friday during normal business hours.

GLS provides companies with IT shipping systems that meet their requirements and parcel volumes. The systems can be adapted to the sender’s IT system.

The following maximum dimensions apply:

  • Maximum length: 200 cm
  • Maximum width: 80 cm
  • Maximum height: 60 cm
  • Maximum dimensions: 300 cm

The maximum weight for national standard shipping is 31.5 kilograms, for national express shipping 50 kilograms. A weight limit of 40 kg applies for Europe-wide shipping. In worldwide shipping, parcels may weigh 50 kg. There are exceptions for a few countries. Your GLS depot will be happy to provide you with more information.

Some parcels are unsuitable for automatic sorting machine conveyor belts due to their dimensions or external packaging. GLS sorts and scans these “non-bandable” parcels (NB goods) manually in the depots and distribution centres. This entails a surcharge. NB goods include:

  • Bags, tyres (if larger than bundles of two), rolls, fabric bales, canisters, plastic buckets, wooden boxes
  • Parcels with protruding parts of any kind.

  • Maximum width: 80 cm
  • Maximum height: 60 cm
  • Maximum dimensions: 300 cm

GLS is liable for damages caused by loss or damage while a parcel is in the care of GLS. The liability does not include consequential damages such as loss of profit. If the sender has not taken out transport insurance.

GLS is liable beyond the legally regulated liability for the value of the shipped goods, up to a maximum value of €550 per parcel (for worldwide parcel shipping to all destinations in accordance with the Montreal Convention). The value of the goods is taken as the purchase price. In the case of used goods, it is the current market price, and in the case of goods shipped for an auction, the auction price, depending on which value is the lowest in each case.

A higher liability limit can be agreed upon depending on your wishes and the selected shipping method. Please get in touch with your contact person at the GLS depot.

Items packaged inadequately or not in accordance with shipping regulations are generally excluded from shipment with GLS. Other items excluded from shipment include:

  • Parcels with a value in excess of €3,500.
  • Express shipments with a total value in excess of €3,500 per shipment.
  • Goods requiring particularly careful handling (e.g. fragile goods)
  • perishable or temperature-controlled goods
  • living creatures
  • particularly valuable items (e.g. money, precious metals and stones, genuine jewellery and pearls, works of art, antiques)
  • Phone cards and pre-paid credit for mobile phones
  • firearms and essential parts of firearms as defined according to the § 1 ff Weapons and Munitions Act
  • dangerous items of any type
  • tobacco and alcohol products (when shipping abroad)

As the sender or consignee, you can trace the current status of your parcel within Austria via parcel tracking . Just enter the parcel number or Track-ID and you're ready.

GLS already provides this service in lots of countries for international shipping too

Yes, all shipments within Austria can be tracked in real time by the sender and the recipient. For international shipping, GLS already provides real-time delivery information in many countries by means of mobile data transmission from the delivery vehicles. Scanning data from hubs and depots is immediately available on the GLS IT system for all GLS subsidiaries and can be accessed directly online. Simply enter the shipping number or Track ID and off you go.

If you do not remember your password for YourGLS or GLS-ONE, you can have a new password sent to you. To do this, click on "Login" on the start page and then on "Reset password". Enter your e-mail address and request a new password.
