Ready for shipping? How to pack correctly!

Select robust outer packaging

Choose high-quality packaging that is suitable for the size, weight and sensitivity of your shipment and make sure that the packaging offers enough space for your shipment and sufficient padding. Choose a new cardboard box made of high-quality, moisture-resistant cardboard and at least double-wall cardboard for heavy parcels. For sustainable shipping, we recommend cardboard boxes made from recycled cardboard or reusable packaging.

Design secure inner packaging:

Place heavy contents at the bottom and light ones at the top. Special contents such as liquids require special care. Pad all contents and cavities to prevent direct contact between the contents and with the outer packaging. Use cushioning materials such as bubble wrap, air chamber bags, corrugated cardboard rolls and crumpled kraft paper. Many cushioning materials can be used several times. In this way, you can actively help to avoid waste and save resources, and it is best to use precisely fitting polystyrene molded parts for heavy and sensitive goods.

Attach a strong fastener

Use tear-resistant adhesive tape with high adhesive strength. The use of a high-quality adhesive tape also reduces the amount of tape you need in the long term. tape the sealing flaps, edges and corners of the parcel. Make the outer shape of the parcel compact and secure by avoiding loose strapping and protruding wires.

Prepare targeted delivery

Remove old shipping labels to avoid misunderstandings and always affix the current shipping label visibly on the largest side of the parcel. Make sure you attach a separate parcel label to each individual parcel and always enclose accompanying documents and shipping information with your parcel to enable quick allocation in the event of a lost label.

Extra tips

Please note the maximum parcel size and the maximum parcel weight for all consignments; certain goods, such as medication, cash or perishable goods, are excluded from shipping with GLS. You can find a complete list of these prohibited goods in our STC .
