Delivering parcels in Finland

Receiving a parcel with GLS is easy! However, the exact delivery process depends on whether you’re a private or business recipient. The sender’s chosen additional services can also affect the delivery.

Parcels to private recipients

Most parcels sent to private customers are delivered to a Matkahuolto pick-up point. You can track your parcel in GLS tracking throughout the delivery process.

Once your parcel is ready for pick-up, you will receive a notification via SMS, email, or letter—depending on the contact details provided by the sender. If you have the Matkahuolto app, you can conveniently track your parcel there. The notification will also include the address and opening hours of the pick-up point.

Lost your notification? No worries! You can check the pick-up location details on Matkahuolto’s website using the shipment number. In GLS tracking, this number appears as the "Finland Parcel Number" once the package has arrived in Finland.

To pick up your parcel, you’ll need the collection code from the notification. There are both pick-up points and parcel lockers available for collection.

FlexDeliveryService parcels

If the sender has selected the FlexDeliveryService, you have the flexibility to adjust the delivery to suit your needs—whether you’re a private or business customer. You’ll receive an email with a link where you can for example:

✔ Change the delivery address (business addresses)
✔ Select a preferred pick-up point
✔ Schedule a new delivery time

Through FlexDeliveryService, you can also choose Posti’s parcel lockers, for example. Please note that any changes must be made before your parcel is processed in Finland at our Turku terminal.

Large or heavy shipments (over 30 kg per unit) are delivered directly to your door, even for private customers. In this case, delivery is attempted during working hours. If the recipient is unavailable, a delivery notification will be left at the address. If a notification cannot be left, another delivery attempt will be made in the following business days.

Parcels for business recipients

Parcels sent to businesses and organizations are delivered directly to the recipient’s door. You can track your shipment in GLS tracking to prepare for the delivery. If delivery is unsuccessful—for example, if the business is closed—a notification will be left at the address (if possible), and the parcel will be returned to the distribution terminal for another delivery attempt.

*FlexDeliveryService – Easy Delivery Adjustments

If the sender has selected the FlexDeliveryService for your shipment, you will receive advance information about your parcel via email. You have the option to influence the delivery within Finland and can make adjustments.

After making a change, your parcel will be delivered according to your preferences. You can modify the delivery until the parcel has arrived in Finland and moved to domestic distribution. If you do not make any changes, the parcel will be delivered using the default delivery methods based on the address type.
