How can I track my parcel?
The GLS parcel number is an 11-digit numeric code. The sender may have provided you with a 12-digit parcel number, which works as well.
The sender may also have given you Track ID, an 8-character alphanumeric code. You can use this to find tracking information, and Track & Trace will display the corresponding 11-digit parcel number.
If you have not received a GLS parcel number, we recommend contacting the sender.
For more detailed tracking information, Track & Trace will ask you to enter the postal code of the delivery address.
When will my parcel arrive?
Your parcel not yet showing processing updates in Finland
Parcels are handled in different sorting centers, and the routing may not always follow the path you expect. For parcels arriving in Finland, the previous handling terminal is often in Denmark or Germany before being processed at our terminal in Turku. Please note that your parcel may already be in transit, and tracking will show the latest handling location. Parcels are not processed between the linehaul transport routes from Denmark to Finland or Germany to Finland, but rather at our terminal in Turku once the linehaul transport has been unloaded.
Once the linehaul transport has left Denmark or Germany, your parcel will typically arrive for processing in Finland within a few business days. You can find more information in the following questions or on the Delivery in Finland page.
If your parcel has already been processed in Finland
In this case, we have sorted your parcel for delivery within the domestic network. Our partners for delivering parcels to pickup points (for private recipients) are:
- Matkahuolto (tracking number starting with 00 in the "Finland parcel number" field)
- Posti (tracking number starting with JJFI in the "Finland parcel number" field)
For parcels delivered to addresses (for business recipients or heavy/large shipments for private individuals):
- DB Schenker and
- Peipponen Express in the Turku region
For more details, see the following sections or the Delivery in Finland page.
I havent' received a notification
If your parcel has been delivered to a pickup point—meaning the tracking shows "Delivered to Parcel Shop"—but you haven’t received a pickup notification, here are some tips:
- Check your text messages and email, including your spam folder.
- If you use the Matkahuolto Paketit app or have requested your package to be redirected to a Posti pickup point and you have the OmaPosti app, check if the package details are available there.
- If you still can’t find the pickup notification, don’t hesitate to contact us! We can help you retrieve the pickup code so that you don’t necessarily have to wait for a paper notification.
It’s possible that we did not receive your contact details from the sender, which is why the notification wasn’t sent.
If the parcel is still on its way to the pickup point, you will receive a pickup notification once it has been delivered.
Track & Trace displays that my parcel has arrived in Denmark or Germany. Since then, there has not been any update. Why not?
Shipments to Finland arrive directly via GLS sorting centers in Neuenstein, Germany or Kolding, Denmark. Parcels destined for Finland are then transported directly to GLS Finland’s sorting center in Turku. There is no additional processing between Denmark and Finland or Germany and Finland, which is why no new tracking updates appear during transit.
Parcels from Denmark or Germany usually arrive in Finland within two business days, or occasionally three business days after a weekend, depending on the processing time. During transport, Track & Trace will not display new tracking events.
I am often not at home. How will I receive my parcel?
Parcels for private individuals are primarily delivered to pickup points in Finland, where you will receive a pickup notification allowing you to collect the package. The pickup notification and Track & Trace will display the pickup point details.
Business parcels are delivered to the given delivery address on weekdays through our partner network.
For more information on how GLS operates in Finland, please see our website.
Track & Trace displays the parcel status “Delivered to GLS ParcelShop”. What does this mean?
This means your parcel has been delivered to a pickup point. If you did not select a pickup point yourself, the nearest Matkahuolto location was chosen based on your address or postal code.
You will receive a pickup notification via text message or email, depending on the contact details provided to GLS by the sender. If your phone number and email address are missing from the information, the delivery notification will be sent by letter. If you do not receive a delivery notification within a reasonable time, we recommend contacting us or the sender to ensure that the 14-day storage period does not expire.
If you use the Matkahuolto Paketit app, you can conveniently check your package’s domestic tracking there.
You can also check the pickup point details via Matkahuolto tracking, where the tracking number appears under "Finland parcel number."
If you selected a Posti pickup point when shopping online, the corresponding Posti tracking number will be shown under "Finland parcel number."
If you changed the delivery method via the FlexDeliveryService link before the package arrived in Finland, your chosen delivery method will be used.
My parcel is damaged. What can I do?
If your parcel has visible external damage, you can refuse to accept it. In this case, the parcel will be returned to the distribution center, and the sender will be informed of the damage. Please also contact the sender regarding this matter.
If you notice damage to the package contents after receiving it, contact the sender directly. We recommend sending clear photos of the damaged product and both the inner and outer packaging.
Since the sender is the freight payer, they are responsible for initiating any claim process in the country of origin. GLS is responsible for compensation handling with the freight payer, and the sender will follow their own terms with the recipient.
My parcel hasn’t arrived. What should I do?
First, check your parcel status in Track & Trace using the tracking number provided by the sender. Also, check if you have received a pickup notification, as it will indicate where your parcel is currently located.
Check your text messages and email, as notifications are primarily sent electronically. If you use the Matkahuolto Paketit app and are expecting a package as a private recipient, check if the package details are already available there. You can find more detailed instructions in the When will I receive my package? section.
If this does not help, please contact our customer service via phone or email. We can assist you best if you provide the GLS tracking number (parcel number or Track ID). Please also include the recipient's details in your inquiry. You can find our customer service contact details via the link below.
If the tracking status has remained unchanged for several days, we recommend initiating an inquiry with the sender. Since the sender is the freight payer, they can start an official investigation.
I want to return my parcel. What do I do?
Return policies vary depending on the sender. If you need to return a parcel, please contact the sender for further details. All returns via GLS must be arranged with the sender before the products are returned.
If you wish to return the parcel at your own expense, you can find more information about sending parcels here:
What happens if nobody is present at the delivery address?
Your parcel includes delivery if it is sent to a business address or if the parcel weighs more than 30 kg. If no one is available at the delivery address, the driver will leave a delivery notice or contact you by phone if a phone number is provided in the shipment details. The delivery may also be attempted again without separate notification, for example, if the business address was closed at the time of delivery.
You can find more information here:
I was promised home delivery
GLS delivers parcels for private individuals to the nearest available pickup point. Only parcels weighing over 25 kg are delivered directly to private addresses by GLS.
If the sender has promised home delivery, we recommend reaching out to them for further clarification.
My question isn’t listed here. Where can I get more information?
