29% of parcels sent to end consumers (B2C) are now delivered or collected at out-of-home (OOH) points, and OOH volumes have more than doubled compared with December 2024, driven by strong growth in markets such as Germany, Italy, Czech Republic and Poland.
GLS plans to reach 30,000 own lockers by 2030, while expanding its Pick-Up-and-Drop-Off (PUDO) points and its smart locker partner networks.
Ámsterdam, 10 February 2026. GLS, a leading parcel service provider with a presence in Europe and North America, closes a year of major expansion after nearly doubling its European OOH delivery network in just 24 months, from 70,000 to 130,000 points in December 2025.
OOH volumes during peak season increased by 43% compared to the previous year, highlighting strong seasonal demand alongside overall network growth.
This growth makes GLS one of the fastest-expanding OOH operators in Europe. Instead of focusing solely on expansion, the company is growing strategically, creating a network of high-quality convenience points and parcel lockers to meet rising consumer demand for flexible and convenient delivery options.
Given this context, GLS has set the ambitious target of having 30,000 own lockers across its network by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to becoming one of the leading OOH networks in Europe.
“The GLS European OOH network has nearly doubled in 24 months, which highlights the rapid shift in consumer delivery preferences,” says Johan Holstein, Digital & Last-mile Transformation Director at GLS Group.
“With continually increasing demand, we are growing with a clear objective, focused on quality and accessibility, and committed to maintaining this momentum as we build one of Europe’s leading OOH networks, which will include 30,000 strategically located GLS lockers by 2030.”
This expansion is supported by a significant increase in parcel volume across all GLS markets. Nearly 29% of GLS B2C parcels are now delivered or collected at one of GLS’s OOH points, and total OOH volume has more than doubled compared with December 2024. Several countries, such as Germany, Poland and Czech Republic, recorded growth rates exceeding 100%.
The GLS network, including collaborators and partners, now comprises 130,000 OOH points across Europe, including approximately 100,000 convenience points and 30,000 lockers.
The convenience point network is especially strong in Italy, Denmark and Spain, with premium locations that offer high-quality service and an enhanced customer experience. This combination of strategically located stores and lockers makes GLS one of the most accessible and customer-oriented OOH networks in Europe. At the same time, home delivery remains a cornerstone of its service, offering premium home-delivery options with real-time tracking and redirection capabilities during distribution.
Strategic partnerships continue to drive the company’s network expansion, with important collaborations in Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, significantly increasing GLS’s reach and accessibility throughout Europe.
As consumer expectations for delivery flexibility continue to evolve, GLS’s investment in a service-oriented physical and digital OOH infrastructure positions the company to meet growing demand while creating a smoother, more accessible and people-centric delivery experience across Europe.
Customer needs are changing faster than ever, and both GLS and Royal Mail, part of the global logistics group International Distribution Services (IDS), are rapidly expanding their OOH offering. Royal Mail, GLS’s sister company in the UK, has recorded an 80% increase in its own number of lockers and stores within a year, reinforcing its position as the UK’s largest multichannel parcel network with more than 25,000 pick-up points, supporting its ambition to reach 45,000 points by 2030.
