Corporate Communications Specialist

GLS is one of the major players in the global parcel delivery market. Due to the e-commerce revolution, this market is growing and innovating rapidly. As a Corporate Communications Specialist, you will play a vital role in communicating GLS Group’s messages to its corporate stakeholders. You are part of the growing Marketing and Communications team and will report to the Communications Manager, working closely with senior stakeholders and country leads. You will be part of a dynamic, inspiring, and international company that is continuously looking for new and innovative opportunities to grow the business.

You will:

  • Translate corporate initiatives into positive storytelling to drive our reputation internally and externally (e.g. identifying media stories, liaising with internal stakeholders, drafting and distributing press releases to relevant media)
  • Develop and lead crisis communications and play a pivotal role in coordinating between different departments
  • Responsible for all M&A communication
  • Lead internal communication initiatives to promote knowledge sharing within the Group
  • Contribute to developing the overall Group communications strategy
  • Support the ESG team by creating compelling and reliable communications around our environmental, sustainability, and governance activities
  • Act as communications liaison within the holding company, streamlining communications and processes between departments and countries
  • Take on an advisory role as a communications specialist for the country and GLS Group functions corporate communication initiatives
  • Work with key internal players across various countries to develop and implement strong corporate communication guidelines
  • Support with drafting and finalizing executive committee communications to our stakeholders, including full and half-year reports and monthly CEO letters
  • Act as advisor to the Head of Strategy and Executive Committee on communication impact and opportunities
  • Work together with the Content Manager to ensure corporate content is published on time and within guidelines
  • Coordinating events and capturing relevant content
  • Support across other relevant communication topics, projects, and activities as part of the team

You Have:

  • A bachelor in marketing, communications, or a related discipline
  • At least 5+ years of relevant communications experience (experience in crisis communication is a requirement)
  • You run projects professionally, keeping track of time, budget, and expectations
  • You are process-driven and organized, with great attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an eye for impactful stories
  • A goal-driven way of working and a flexible, proactive, and collaborative attitude
  • You enjoy working in a dynamic, young team environment
  • A natural ability to network and build cross-discipline and international bridges
  • Fluency in English and preferably in another European language
  • Having existing relationships with relevant media is a plus

The GLS Group is looking for a

Corporate Data Protection Manager

GLS is one of the major players in the international parcel delivery market. Due to the e-commerce revolution, this market is growing and innovating rapidly. In your role as Corporate Data Protection Manager, you report directly to the head of the Corporate Data Protection team and play a key role in the international Corporate Compliance & Directives team, developing the Group-wide Data Protection Framework, and guiding and supporting local Data Protection Managers in 18 European countries. Your office will be located in Eschborn, near Frankfurt/Main, Germany (remote working in Germany opportunities negotiable).

You will:

  • Further, develop the Corporate Data Protection Framework with a special focus on compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation
  • Develop projects and processes to strengthen data protection in the international GLS organization and guide the country's data protection functions in their implementation
  • Design and implement data protection guidance, training, and other awareness measures
  • Provide indirect leadership and expert support for local Data Protection Managers in 18 European countries, including organizing yearly in-person meetings and providing input on location if required
  • Act as a link to the GLS Group IT organization, providing legal advice and coordinating data protection compliance for IT projects with Group-wide relevance
  • Provide legal advice and coordinate data protection compliance for projects on a corporate level
  • Represent GLS towards Data Protection Authorities and other external stakeholders
  • Prepare communication documents and presentations, in particular for the top management of the GLS Group and its parent company, IDS

Your qualifications:

  • A fully qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction with specialization in European data protection law and 3+ years of experience in a comparable role, ideally in an international corporation
  • Solid understanding of technical and economic relationships; strong affinity for IT topics
  • High level of organizational skills and structured way of working, ideally with experience in process and project management
  • Fluency in English and the ability to present legal and technical issues in a practical manner

Intern (m/f/d) Corporate Environment & Climate Strategy

The Corporate Environment & Climate Strategy department is the central contact for the environmental and climate strategy of the GLS Group (Europe, USA and Canada). Our task is to reduce emissions GLS-wide and pave the way towards “zero emissions”. We create transparency by calculating our eco footprint, coordinate topics such as electromobility, charging infrastructure and energy management across the group and are in close contact with all GLS national companies. Would You like to join us in making the world of tomorrow greener and more sustainable?

This is your job:

  • Support in the preparation of country-specific roadmaps to reduce emissions in the areas of vehicles/fleet and buildings
  • Collaboration and further development of the strategy towards “Zero Emissions” in a global context and in cooperation with 21 countries
  • Further development of tools for internal use, as well as carrying out project-specific market research and interviews
  • Support in project management of various projects and initiatives, with a focus on achieving Science based targets

Duration of internship: at least 3, preferably 6 months. After a successful internship, there is the possibility of extending Your internship as a working student

Your skills:

  • Studies in the field of (industrial) engineering with an affinity for energy management, sustainability and emissions reduction technologies
  • Preferably you are already in your master studies
  • Major interest in topics such as electromobility, renewable energies, heat pumps and low-emission heating systems
  • Reliability and an eye for details characterize your way of working
  • You enjoy working in a team and being communicative with different people
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of common MS Office programs, especially MS Excel
  • First practical experience as part of an internship or working student position is an advantage
