Driver Day: A Day with the Delivery Team

Did you know that our office staff swap their computers for delivery vans for a whole day?

Every second Monday of the month, GLS employees from different departments spend a day on the road with our couriers. This unique and pioneering initiative, which we launched over seven years ago, allows us to stay close to our customers and recipients while identifying last-mile needs.

Driver Day Milestones

Under the name "Messenger Day," ASM launched the initiative with the aim of bringing office staff closer to recipients and customers on the street. At the same time, it encourages support for and learning from couriers by experiencing firsthand what happens during a delivery day. In this first stage, key milestones were achieved, such as the participation of major clients and becoming a trending topic on Twitter.

After GLS acquired ASM, the initiative was rebranded as "Driver Day," while still maintaining the essence of the activity. From each delivery day, action plans are developed that impact all levels and departments, allowing the company to continue evolving with a focus on improving the quality of service offered.

Due to the exceptional situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Driver Day was temporarily paused. However, in September 2021, the initiative was relaunched with more enthusiasm than ever! The focus was placed on the entire delivery team after more than a year of hard work during the health crisis. Their impressions, experiences, organizational skills, and dedication to each delivery and pickup are our pride!
