Every April 22, the world reflects on its impact on the planet. But in the transportation industry, the engine never stops. It keeps running – to transport, to deliver, to connect.

So, how do we reconcile this need for constant movement with the urgency of climate change?

How can logistical efficiency go hand in hand with environmental responsibility?

In these times of change – economic, technological, climatic – it's normal to feel some uncertainty.

But one thing remains clear: our industry lies at the heart of everyday life and global exchanges. It keeps supply chains moving, delivering to the doors of homes and businesses. But beyond goods, we also carry a vision of a more sustainable future, and the time to act is now.

This transition is already underway, one choice at a time.

Reducing our environmental footprint is not just about major technological breakthroughs, it's a series of concrete, progressive, and pragmatic decisions. They may seem small individually, but together, they make a real difference.

Here are just a few of the actions we have taken as part of our environmental strategy:

  • Fleet electrification: Five electric heavy-duty trucks are already in service in Canada, with two new electric yard tractors on the way.
  • Alternative fuels: Launch of a renewable diesel pilot project to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Charging infrastructure: 50 charging stations are already in place across our Canadian network to support the electric transition.
  • Route optimization: Advanced systems help us plan smarter routes and reduce mileage.
  • Terminal energy efficiency: Modernized heating equipment and improved lighting to better manage energy use.

Trucking and delivery will always be essential, but they must - and can - evolve to become part of a more sustainable future.

This Earth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to being part of the solution.

Because every gesture counts. Because a sustainable future is delivered... one kilometre at a time. To get there, we need to work together. Every player, every partner, every company must play its part. By working together, we can build a future where the next generations can grow and prosper in a healthy, sustainable environment. Our collective responsibility to ensure a balanced world that respects the planet is more important than ever.

At GLS, we care.
